Hello everyone , today we will be discussing about the winner, scorecard and match summaries of all the T20 World Cup Ind vs Pak battles from the inaugural 2007 ICC T20 World Cup to the latest 2021 edition .   • Toss: Pakistan won, and chose to field first.
  • India beat Pakistan in Group D of the 2007 Twenty20 World Championship at Kingsmead, Durban, South Africa.
  • After both teams were tied on 141 runs after 20 overs each, India won the bowl-out 3-0.

  • India were 36-4 in the seventh over . Mohammad Asif dismissed Gautam Gambhir , Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Dinesh Karthik cheaply, finishing with figures of 4-18. Shahid Afridi took 2 wickets for 37 runs .
  • Robin Uthappa scored 50 (39) for India. Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 33 (31) runs, and India were restricted to 141-9 after twenty overs.
  • In response , Pakistan lost three wickets in quick succession, when Salman Butt (16) , Kamran Akmal (15) and Younis Khan (2) . Misbah-ul-Haq scored 53 (35) to take Pakistan near victory, and just one run was needed off the last two balls. However Misbah-ul-Haq was run out by Sreesanth off the last ball to leave the scores level. Irfan Pathan took 2 wickets for 20 runs including a maiden over .
  • After both teams were tied on 141 runs after 20 overs each, India won the bowl-out 3-0. Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Robin Uthappa all hit the target for India while Pakistan’s Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi missed.

2. ICC 2007 T20 WORLD CUP (FINAL)

  • The 2007 ICC World Twenty20 was the inaugural Twenty20 International cricket world championship, contested in South Africa from 11 to 24 September 2007. Twelve teams took part in the thirteen-day tournament—the ten Test-playing nations, Kenya and Scotland.
  • India won the cup defeating Pakistan by 5 runs in the final at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The very first final of T20 world cup became very dramatic at the end and was a thriller match . This was the start T20’s wanted to expand rapidly in the future .

1ST INNINGS –

  • MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat .India lost their opening wicket in the third over .Settling down, Gautam Gambhir played his shots . On the other end,  Umar Gul took crucial wickets of Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni .
  • Rohit Sharma made some late-order hitting which brought India to 157 for 5 in the twenty overs , only Gautam Gambhir (75 from 54 balls) produced a notable innings. . For Pakistan, Gul was the best of the bowlers as he took three wickets .

2ND INNINGS –

  • Irfan Pathan (3/16), RP Singh (3/26) and Joginder Sharma (2/20) bowled good spells . With Pakistan needing 54 from 24 balls, Misbah-ul-Haq dispatched Harbhajan Singh for 3 sixes in one over and Sreesanth for 2 sixes, as Pakistan went into the last over needing 13 runs to win, with only 1 wicket remaining.
  • Joginder Sharma bowled the last over and a wide first ball, followed by a dot ball. Misbah followed by taking six off a full-toss; Pakistan needed 6 runs to win from four balls. Misbah attempted to hit the next ball with a paddle-scoop over fine leg, but was caught at short fine-leg by Sreesanth, leaving Pakistan all out for 152 runs with 3 balls remaining .  

Irfan Pathan was awarded the Man of the Match for his spell, which included 3 wickets for 16 runs, including that of Man of the Series, Shahid Afridi. India made history by winning the first ever T20 World Cup which marked the rise of ” New India ” under the captaincy of MS Dhoni .   • Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat
  • Pakistan did not get the desired opening as half the team got out within the 10 overs of the innings. Highest runs were scored for Pakistan was by Shoaib Malik 28 (22) and Umar Akmal 21(18) . Pakistan got all out for 128 runs with 2 balls remaining .
  • All bowlers except Zaheer Khan got wickets . Lakshmipathy Balaji took 3/22 (3.4 overs) , Ravichandran Ashwin 2/16 and Yuvraj Singh 2/16 (3 overs).
  • India did not get good start as well as Raza Hasan took early wicket of Gautam Gambhir . But Virat Kohli 78* (61) and Virender Sehwag 29 (24) built a strong 2nd wicket partnership of 74 runs while the duo of Yuvraj Singh 19(16) and Virat chased down the total of 129 runs in 17 overs .
  • Raza Hasan took 1/22 (4 overs) and Shahid Afridi 1/34 (4 overs) for Pakistan . India won the match by 8 wickets with the loss of 2 wickets with 3 overs remaining and Virat Kohli was awarded the Player of the Match trophy for his unbeaten knock of 78*(61) runs .

  • Pakistan lost the early wicket of Kamran Akmal 8 (10) in the form of a runout in the 2nd over only . Every player in the middle order got starts but couldn’t convert it into big scores . 4th Wicket: Partnership of 50 runs in 41 balls (Umar Akmal 29, Shoaib Malik 18) was the highest for Pakistan . However Shohaib Maqsood’s cameo of 21 (11) took Pakistan to a respectable score of 130/7 (20 overs).
  • Every bowler bowled economically for India and had something on the wickets column except Ravichandran Ashwin . Amit Mishra had the best figures of 2-22 (4 ov) including a maiden over .

India Innings

  • Rohit Sharma 24(21) and Shikhar Dhawan 30(28) gave India a fine start by adding 54 runs for the 1st Wicket . Yuvraj Singh got out cheaply for 1 run but the 4th wicket partnership between Virat Kohli 36(32) and Suresh Raina 35(28) ensured that India made 131/3 (18.3 overs) and won the match by 7 wickets (with 9 balls remaining) .
  • Umar Gul and Bilawal Bhatti took 1 wicket each for Pakistan while Saeed Ajmal 1-18 (4 overs) had the best figures .
  • Player Of The Match went to Amit Mishra for his figures of (2/22) including 1 maiden .

  • India won the toss and elected to field first .
  • The start of the match was delayed by a wet outfield and the game was reduced to 18 overs per side.

Pakistan Innings

  • Sharjeel Khan 17(24) and Ahmed Shahzad 25 (28) gave Pakistan a slow and steady start as they made just 24 runs in 5 overs . Then , Pakistan lost both the openers in a quick succession of 2 overs only . Shoaib Malik 26(16) and Umar Akmal 22(16) played good innings but it wasn’t enough as Pakistan could manage only 118/5 in 18.0 overs .
  • Every Indian bowler bowled very economically and took 1 wicket each except Ravichandran Ashwin .

India Innings

  • India too could not get the desired start as well because Rohit Sharma 10 (11) , Shikhar Dhawan 6(15) and Suresh Raina 0(1) got out early in the 3rd and 5th overs . But it was the 4th wicket partnership between Virat Kohli 55 (37) and Yuvraj Singh 24 (23) and the finishing touches from MS Dhoni 13(9) which took India home .
  • India comfortably made 119 runs in 15.5 overs and won the match by 6 wickets . Mohammad Sami 2/17 (2 overs) had the best figures for Pakistan . Also , Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir took 1 wicket each with the latter bowling a maiden too .
  • Undoubtedly , Man of the Match award went to V Kohli for his unbeaten 55 runs off 37 balls (7 x 4, 1 x 6) .
  • This was India’s eleventh victory against Pakistan in ICC World Cup matches across both ODI and T20I formats.

India Innings

  • India did not get good start as India lost 3 big wickets inside the powerplay only . However , slow and steady 4th wicket partnership between Virat Kohli 57(49) and Rishabh Pant 39(30) powered India to a respectable score of 151/7 in 20 overs . Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja also made little contributions at the end .
  • Shaheen Shan Afridi was the star bowler for Pakistan bagging the figures of 3/31 (4overs) . Hasan Ali took 2 wickets while Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf took 1 wicket each .

Pakistan Innings

  • Babar Azam and Mohammmad Rizwan made 43 runs in the 1st powerplay . They brought up 50 runs partnership in 46 balls for the 1st Wicket , 100 runs in 12.5 overs (77 balls) and 150 runs in 17.4 overs (106 balls). Babar Azam made 50 off 40 balls (4 x 4, 2 x 6) while Mohammad Rizwan completed his 50 off 41 balls (3 x 4, 2 x 6) .
  • It was this opening pair only ( Babar Azam 68(52) ; Mohammmad Rizwan 79(55) ) that won the match for Pakistan single-handedly scoring 152 runs in 17.5 overs without any loss of wicket . Shaheen Shah Afridi was awarded with the Player of the Match trophy for his brilliant spell of 3/31 in 4 overs .
  • This was the first time in 13 attempts that Pakistan had beaten India in either a Cricket World Cup or T20 World Cup match. Also , This was the first time that India had lost by 10 wickets in T20Is.

  • The most awaited battle between India and Pakistan was held this year on the big stage of 2022 ICC T20 World Cup .

Pakistan Innings

  • Pakistan made a total of 32 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the Powerplay and completed 50 runs in 8.6 overs (54 balls). 3rd Wicket Partnership was of 50 runs in 41 balls between Shan Masood (21) and Iftikhar Ahmed (29).
  • Shan Masood was the highest scorer with 52 runs off 42 balls (5 x 4) while Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs off 32 balls (2 x 4, 4 x 6)
  • Pakistan reached 100 runs in 14.1 overs and finished with 159/8 runs in 20.0 overs (114 balls), Extras 12

India Innings

  • India got a very bad start in the Powerplay with only 31 runs at the cost of 3 big wickets of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and in-form Suryakumar Yadav.
  • India managed to reach only 50 runs in 10.3 overs for the loss of 4 wickets but then 5th Wicket Partnership was built of 50 runs in 39 balls between V Kohli (22) and HH Pandya (29).
  • India finally reached 100 runs in 14.6 overs while Virat Kohli made 50 off 43 balls (4 x 4, 1 x 6).
  • 5th Wicket Partnership of 113 runs in 78 balls between V Kohli 82*(53) and H Pandya 40(37) was broken by M Nawaz in the last over .
  • 2 back-to-back sixes off Haris Rauf (19th) over by Virat made India favourites to win the match from this situation. R Ashwin hit the winning run on the last ball only off M Nawaz while Virat Kohli became the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 82 runs .
